Library Acquisition: Rue Saint-Martin

Rue Saint-Martin is the fifth story in Tales from the Library, a series based on The Invisible Library by Genevieve Cogman. Much of the action takes place in a previously unvisited alternate world—Paris in the year 1793. In our world, the Reign of Terror had Paris by the throat in 1793, but that's not necessarily the case in other realities.

For those who love to daydream about what-ifs, the multiverse of the Invisible Library is a fascinating concept. What would the United States be like if they'd lost the War of Independence? if the Spanish hadn't defeated the Mayans, how would the indigenous population have evolved? Realities could exist where men were considered inferior to women or where dinosaurs co-mingled with humans. I've added to the mix by introducing a villain who can enchant book illustrations, transforming them into portals into the fictional reality of the novel.

In Rue Saint-Martin, Irene and her dragon assistant Kai are on the trail of Count Lecerf, the rogue Fae whose goal appears to be the destabilization of their friend Peregrine Vale's world. After the events in the prequel, Olmstead Manor, it's become increasingly clear that Lecerf's being helped by a traitor within the Library itself. Rue Saint-Martin explores what kind of sabotage could be perpetrated within the nexus of the multiverse. Irene and Kai better proceed cautiously.
