Crowley: On the Outside Looking In

As Glass Angels draws to a close, Crowley reflects on the end of Astrena. Is he worried about his future as well? He's already departed from Supernatural. Is this the end of his involvement in my Crossed Lines series too? He doesn't appear to be concerned, and he has good reason to be confident. How could he possibly be written out when there's so much potential?

In Crossed Lines, Crowley possessed the art-forger Curtis Hagen. He retains his memories, including recollections of Neal and Mozzie. Could Hagen ever reemerge? What if he started talking to Crowley?

Up to now Crowley and Neal haven't interacted. Don't they need to? And what about Mozzie? What would it be like to throw those two paranoid geniuses together? Just think what a crossroads demon could offer Mozzie. Neal could easily be ensnared in a joint scheme.

Then there's Crowley's connection to Maia. He is one of the few who know about her former life as Astrena's handmaiden. When Maia still remembered her life in ancient Ireland, she viewed the Winchesters, Chloe, and Crowley, along with Neal, Peter, and Mozzie, as members of her clan. Does she still harbor, even if subconsciously, that feeling? From Crowley's perspective, the attachment appears to be somewhat reciprocated. Neal's ancestors are Irish. Crowley is from Scotland, but a member of Maia's family could have immigrated to Scotland. Is there a blood connection? Crowley insists on an investigation.

As for bargaining chips, Crowley has a basketful. He has a wealth of knowledge about the demon world, and he's also familiar with Astrena, other members of her family, and her vampire pure-bloods. He hints about secrets that are potential game-changers.

Penna and I conducted an online writing retreat over the Memorial Day weekend. We'd prepared an agenda in advance and Crowley wasn't listed. For those who know him, it comes as no surprise that he commandeered one session and gladly would have usurped others. Among his many proposals were some rather outrageous ideas for Hagen. I'm not sure if they will survive, but it's a safe bet that Crowley's here to stay.
