Arkham Files: Strange Signals

Neal Carter has now known for a year that he's an alien hybrid. After the initial shock of discovering that his mother had Celaenian DNA and his father was a shapeshifting Meropian, life hasn't been too bad. Neal looks completely human. True, he has an aura but only a few alien species can see it. His sensitivity to algolnium isn't likely to cause any issues since only a few colleagues know of the element's existence.

Some of Neal's abilities are downright cool. His enhanced night vision, for instance. And who wouldn't like to turn invisible at will, even if it is only for brief periods? He can open or close portals to wormholes. His limited telepathic ability could strengthen with time.

Are there any downsides? Not really. But then again, Neal is still evolving. As the algolnium within him continues to grow, will physical differences begin to appear? That question becomes much more pressing after his team comes into contact with worlds where dragons exist. They've become members of an intergalactic league formed to combat the Ymar and other agents of chaos. Their leader is a Senior Librarian named Coppelia. She works at an interdimensional nexus of worlds in a different galaxy.

When Coppelia met Neal, she believed he was a dragon. Turns out, his aura is almost identical. Hard not to panic at that kind of news. Does that mean Celaenians were dragons before they shed their corporeal forms? Will he eventually develop dragon characteristics? Up to now, Neal could ignore his alien side. Will that soon no longer be possible? And what will that mean to his relationship with Sara?

In Strange Signals, the situation grows more complicated not only for Neal but for other members of the team as well.
