In Winston's Diamonds, I added the Mosconi Codex to my Red Diamonds collection of dangling threads where it joins Adrian Tulane, the Dentist of Detroit, Raquel LaRoque, and Alice Langton. In A Better Way, I add threads connected to Vermeer and Mozzie.
The Vermeer thread comes from Skating on Thin Ice. In that story, Neal painted a forgery of the Vermeer masterpiece, The Art of Painting. The original is in Vienna. Neal completed the painting but the con was concluded before he switched it with the original. His forgery has been residing in his workshop at the Ellington Manson ever since. The time has come for it to earn its keep.
As for Mozzie, this thread originated from an idea Penna and I developed during a writing retreat in 2021. The plot bunny took on additional significance after the untimely death of Willie Garson later that year. We wanted to include a storyline that honors both the actor and his character. It will be introduced in A Better Way.
I plan to post A Better Way on September 24.
