Now that Mozzie is co-writing Arkham Files with Diana, it's not a surprise to those who know him that he's managed to inject one of his favorite conspiracy theories into the stories. You've already encountered several candidates in Caffrey Conversation. Who can forget his obsession with Hitler clones? The otherworldly connection to tunnel slime is another example. In Arkham Files, Mozzie found an ideal breeding ground for extraterrestrial interference in global politics.
Mozzie has long been convinced that some actions taken by governments can only be explained by the fact that leading politicians have become the mouthpiece of space aliens bent on the destruction of Earth. Even before Mozzie took up the co-writer mantle, he'd sneaked in references to his theory. In Lion's Lair, Arkham Mozzie warned about the nefarious influence the Cult of Starry Wisdom could exert on politicians. The cult is ancient, dating back at least to the time of ancient Egypt. Has it been working behind the scenes throughout history to make governments carry out Azathoth's desires?
New York Mozzie is convinced Big Government is the enemy of the people. In Arkham Files, Lavinia and Gideon are equally suspicious about how the federal government would treat space aliens. They're confident of their own ability to escape detection, but Neal is another matter. If the results of El's tests fell into government hands, Neal would likely be immediately quarantined. The risk of exposure up to now hasn't been high since his alien abilities have been easy to conceal, but as the algolnium within him continues to strengthen, the situation could easily change.
Peter faces a different type of risk. If he wants to keep his reputation, he must be circumspect about the discoveries he makes with Neal. He can document newly found caves but must remain mum on the subject of the Elnath and the Ymar. Neal likewise is unable to publish anything about the Elnath and other alien scripts that he can now read.
New York Mozzie is intrigued by the secret conspiracy formed by Neal and his friends. So far the team has managed to escape outside scrutiny. Only a few within the Arkham Police Department know about their activities and their knowledge is limited to knowing about the appearance of weird creatures in Arkham.
What role is the Cult of Starry Wisdom playing in politics? Do any government leaders currently have zoogs in their brains? Did they in the past? Mozzie's fertile imagination is busily concocting possibilities.
