Columbia Ghost Story: Vengeful Spirits

Oblivion is a scary place. The underworld kingdom is home to vampires and witches who have been killed on Earth, but the most terrifying residents of all are vengeful spirits. Once mortal, they are now consumed by an insatiable desire for revenge. In Columbia Ghost Story, Thanatos sends one back to the upper world. It's the first step in his own plan to exact revenge on Astrena.

Neal briefly wonders about what other vengeful spirits lurk in the underworld but doesn't want to dwell on the topic. No wonder. He and Henry have both been victimized by men so evil they would have to be prime material for Oblivion. At the top of the list for Neal is Vance who abused Neal as a child. Robert, Henry's father, also surely qualifies for Oblivion.

But not all vengeful spirits are evil. Take, for instance, Maia's brothers—Fraech and Taliesin. We know little about them except they were Celtic warriors. Many warriors didn't die peacefully. Could they be thirsting for revenge? If so, on whom? Then there are all the artists and musicians who were consumed by Astrena. How many of them yearn for vengeance? Crowley must have accumulated many enemies since becoming a demon. Will one come back to haunt him?

So many vengeful spirits. So many stories to tell. I suspect the eidolon in Columbia Ghost Story won't be the last one to pop up.
