Vault Acquistion: Time Crystals

Time Crystals is the latest acquisition to the library vault at Miskatonic University. It is the sequel to Lion's Lair in the Arkham Files series. At the beginning of the story, the winter holidays are fast approaching in Arkham, Massachusetts. Peter is laying the groundwork for a field expedition to Egypt which is scheduled to take place later in the month, but it may have to be postponed if the toxin in Neal's body can't be neutralized.

Warning for spoilers to the earlier stories in the series

Neal is still contaminated with the compound ymarite. He'd been infected during an attack by the saber-toothed leopard Sornoth on the planet Merope. The fear is that Azathoth and his fellow Ymar are able to use the drug to trace Neal's movements. They can only speculate on what other effects the chemical has. Elizabeth is working with Lavinia, Cyrus, and the Meropian scientist Pagna to find a cure.

Much of the action in Time Crystals is concerned with events from Neal's childhood, specifically the month leading up to him being discovered on the streets of Arkham as an eight-year-old with no memory of his past. Sara will also reveal the results of her job interview in London.

Readers of Caffrey Conversation know that Diana Berrigan is the author of Arkham Files. In The Musicians, she agreed to let Mozzie co-write the stories. Mozzie has included some references to his childhood in Time Crystals. This story also marks Henry's introduction into the series.
